Coming soon - the Ron Dellums, Desley Brooks and Aimee Allison ticket: corruption, misguided approaches, and the unholy alliance of old-fashioned cronyism and Green Party stridency.
Okay, so, I never wrote this in the way I introduced it. It is interesting enough to report that Desley Brooks and the Green Party's Aimee Allison are sharing a ticket. Cronyism works by translating political power into economic power. The most efficient way to do that is to exclude non-cronies from the economy using the government, so that economic access is doled out to the politically connected.
The best way to do that is to over-regulated the economy in arbitrary ways that can be manipulated to accomodate cronies but serve to keep out everyone else. Thus the alliance with the Green Party. Since they are unabashedly anti-business and anti-economy (their anti-Port activism is not only aimed at Oakland's economic engine, it refuses to acknowledge that Oakland is consistently rated the greenest port in the country), corrupt politicians can ally with them to create the closed economy that then places substantial monetary value on political access.
Also, Aimee Allison's idea of long-term planning is to zone nail shops off of Grand Avenue, as reported by the Montclairion. Who the hell is she to tell me I can't get my nails did? What a fool she is. This merely reinforces the Green Party's knee-jerk anti-business attitude, which is so easily exploited by crony-seeking politicians.
If there are limits on nail shops despite huge demand for them, guess who gets to open a nail shop? Desley Brooks' friends, that's who.
